After class today, a small group of us decided to go explore Walking Street a bit further, and hike up these mysterious stairs we had seen while walking around one day. There was a person or two that would come running down the stairs every so often, so we decided we would take a look for ourselves.
As we were hiking up, we noticed the coolest things, and maybe they were just cool because we are American tourists and everything new or different is cool and obviously picture worthy. At one point of the trip, I caught a photo of seven of them actually taking the same picture at the same time, felt like that was more picture worthy, in fact.
When we got to the top of the Pagoda (I really don't even know what this word means, the other people in our group just kept calling it that, so I like to join in and sound smart. I think it's like a temple or some sort of church?) and it was just phenomenal. There were stairs you could climb up inside of it, but it was roped off. If I weren't in China, I would probably sneak in and go up the stairs anyways. However, I do not want to cross any lines with the Chinese government, I'd like to go home when the time comes.
After we were done hiking and taking pictures, we decided to go to this little camera shop that Preston had seen the other day and wanted to go take a closer look at. We went and caught a bus there, rode it for about 10 minutes, and then hopped off. We made it to the camera store all right, but we realized that it was just the tail end of walking street. So, we had payed for a bus that took us to the exact same spot, but it was kind of a funny story. We made an adventure of it and had a wonderful time together.
