Today was one of those days where you are incredibly productive, yet when looking back, it seems like nothing was accomplished. Basically, I did my normal teaching routine, ate lunch, made next weeks lesson plans, took a three hour nap, taught ELE, took another nap, went to Wal-Mart (which is way different than it is back home, by the way), and then got lost in the city with dear Lexi. Writing it out further proves to me that it was a successful day; I got a lot done. However, time just felt slow and I felt lazy and as if I were just in a daze. It was just a weird day.
After our Wal-Mart run with our group, Lexi and I split off in search of some snap back hats for our trip this weekend. We envisioned us wearing this miraculous outfit for vacation, comprised of neon/colored shorts (like old man swim trunks almost, or maybe eighties workout shorts) with a big and baggy bro tank, a snap back hat, and finally, a fanny pack. We would look like the ultimate tourists, or maybe the ultimate frat bros, either was ok with me.
After our trip to Wal-Mart, we almost had a complete outfit, but we were missing the most important piece, the hat. Lex and I were determined to find one, so we went cruising around the area and stumbled upon this incredible mall (both in size and in beauty). It really put my mall back home to shame, as if it hadn't been already. This place was five stories tall with more turns and alleys inside than anything else. it felt as if each floor was a city in itself; it was so large and quite difficult to navigate, but we made it out alive.
We found a bunch of stores we have in America there, such as H&M, Nike, Uni Clo, Adidas, Apple, etc. It was kind of incredible to find such things, but the prices were not as incredible as the stores themselves. Everything was about the same as it is back home, so we were in and out quickly. You can find things so cheap here, so why waste your money when you can find the same things for more than half the cost, right?
We finally found this store, called Hot Wind, where they sold hats and shoes. It was interesting to me that they only had one store with hats, when back home, almost every mall has an entire store, or two, dedicated to hats alone. It must not be a Chinese thing to wear old school snap back hats, who knew.
Anyways, through floors and hours of searching, we found these killer hats with fun little tribal print in them. They will go very nicely with our colored shorts we found at Wally, too. I got the blue shorts and a bright red hat, so I'll be lookin great. Our group as whole will look fresh to death, the people around us are really in for a treat ;)!
dope 'n fresh bay bay!!!
